Architecture – Buildings, bridges, and other artificial structures, whether interior or exterior. Images can narrow in on minute details or take in the whole structure. Look for patterns, angles, humans among their structures, etc… Try not to have an image that just happens to have a building in it; have an image that is about the building. Bruce Panock judges.

Landscape – Capture outdoor scenes in an artful or compelling way to engage the viewer’s eye and attention. They should feel what you felt, standing in the middle of nature. These spaces within the world may be vast and unending, or microscopic. Elano Dallmeyer will judge.

Golden and Blue HoursGolden Hour is the period of daylight shortly after sunrise or before sunset when the light is softer and warmer and makes for some truly excellent photos. Of course, capturing the sunrise or sunset is perfectly valid in this time window, but you’ll likely find some amazing “glowy” views facing the opposite direction.

Blue Hour is the lesser known sister of the Golden Hour. It is the time before sunrise or after sunset when the sun is below the horizon and the sky fills with inky shades of blue and indigo, before it becomes black.

We want to see your pictures from either of these times, including sunrise/sunset.

Golden and Blue Hours

Join us at our new location, Kimball Farms, for our first competition of the season at 6:30pm. If you have prints, please get them in no later than 6:15pm. The theme this month is “Golden and Blue Hours.”

Golden Hour (also known as the Magic Hour) is the period of daylight shortly after sunrise or before sunset. The light is softer and warmer and makes for some truly excellent photography. Of course, capturing the sunrise or sunset is perfectly valid in this time window, but you’ll likely find some amazing “glowy” views facing the opposite direction.

Blue Hour is the lesser known sister of the Golden Hour. It is the time before sunrise or after sunset when the sun is beneath the horizon and the sky fills with inky shades of blue and indigo, before it becomes black.

For our theme, we want to see your pictures from either of these times, including sunrise/sunset. The submission form is open until the end of October 21st.

*Also note that NECCC submission forms are also open. The deadline for getting those in is October 27th. This year there has been a Monochrome category added.
