**Submitted images should be your own.

Up Close – It’s time to get close and personal with your subject. This is open to interpretation. Zoom in close (macro) on tiny often overlooked subjects, use a telephoto to give an intimate view of a timid or far-off target, get uncomfortably close in an otherwise standard portrait. However you choose to do it, be sure to bring us in closer to your subject than we would normally find ourselves.

*Deadline for digital submissions is May 13.

Wednesday, February 21

Black and White – When you look at the world without color, you begin to notice other things: Contrast between light and dark, shapes and structures, minute details that are usually lost. Timeless and stately, we want to see your Black and White images.

Wednesday, January 3 @ 6:30

*Zoom – We will discuss this month’s theme (Guess What) in detail, show plenty of examples, hopefully generate some ideas, and offer suggestions as to how to make them happen.

*As usual, when the timer on the main page reaches zero (15 minutes before the meeting), it turns into the link.

Wednesday, January 17

Guess What – We want your mystery photos! Show us just enough of your subject to lure us in, but leave us guessing as to what the subject really is. This is usually done by zooming or cropping, but you are in no way restricted to just that. Processing, lighting, motion, and other methods are all available.

January 13 – Digital submission deadline

Wednesday, December 13

Architecture – Buildings, bridges, and other artificial structures, whether interior or exterior. Images can narrow in on minute details or take in the whole structure. Look for patterns, angles, humans among their structures, etc… Try not to have an image that just happens to have a building in it; have an image that is about the building. Bruce Panock judges.

Monday, November 13

Landscape – Capture outdoor scenes in an artful or compelling way to engage the viewer’s eye and attention. They should feel what you felt, standing in the middle of nature. These spaces within the world may be vast and unending, or microscopic. Elano Dallmeyer will judge.

Golden and Blue HoursGolden Hour is the period of daylight shortly after sunrise or before sunset when the light is softer and warmer and makes for some truly excellent photos. Of course, capturing the sunrise or sunset is perfectly valid in this time window, but you’ll likely find some amazing “glowy” views facing the opposite direction.

Blue Hour is the lesser known sister of the Golden Hour. It is the time before sunrise or after sunset when the sun is below the horizon and the sky fills with inky shades of blue and indigo, before it becomes black.

We want to see your pictures from either of these times, including sunrise/sunset.
October 21 – Digital submission deadline

October 27 – Deadline for NECCC Submissions

Golden and Blue Hours

Join us at our new location, Kimball Farms, for our first competition of the season at 6:30pm. If you have prints, please get them in no later than 6:15pm. The theme this month is “Golden and Blue Hours.”

Golden Hour (also known as the Magic Hour) is the period of daylight shortly after sunrise or before sunset. The light is softer and warmer and makes for some truly excellent photography. Of course, capturing the sunrise or sunset is perfectly valid in this time window, but you’ll likely find some amazing “glowy” views facing the opposite direction.

Blue Hour is the lesser known sister of the Golden Hour. It is the time before sunrise or after sunset when the sun is beneath the horizon and the sky fills with inky shades of blue and indigo, before it becomes black.

For our theme, we want to see your pictures from either of these times, including sunrise/sunset. The submission form is open until the end of October 21st.

*Also note that NECCC submission forms are also open. The deadline for getting those in is October 27th. This year there has been a Monochrome category added.
